Welcome to the Bo Tree Blog!

As we've traveled to different places, we've often dreamed of creating a unique business that builds upon the bookstore/café model by incorporating diverse elements for all ages: a greater range of dining experiences, indoor & outdoor theaters, educational opportunities, health and fitness practices, environmentally friendly products, and more.

It'll be 2019 before we can make this a reality so we're not as concerned with making realistic plans right now. Our focus now - and on this blog - is to incubate divergent and creative ideas with YOUR help.

So, we'd love for you to read a section at a time. They're organized along the right side of the screen & when selected, will appear below this introduction (you'll have to scroll down). Then let us know what you think (good or bad) through the blog comments or by emailing us at botree@gmail.com .

Thanks!

Motivation

Our motivation in creating this business is:

·         To have the opportunity to implement a diverse range of ideas that we are passionate about,

·         To nurture the health of the community and the individuals within the community by providing helpful services and products (especially providing support for young families and children), and

·         To save the world using free market principles and an "enlightened" interpretation of capitalism which understands that sustainability and prosperity should be mutually supportive.

The key to our success will be synergy – synergy created by respecting “people, planet, profits” with mutually supportive solutions and the synergy created by our unique arrangement of products and services.  In order to achieve a critical mass of experiences for our patrons, we have established a list of essential elements that will constitute the core of Bo Tree Bookstore, Market and Café.

While each component is important to establish the breadth of services, the depth of each individual area will be dependent upon the local market, financing, and our ability to meet the triple bottom line.

Components:

  • Bookselling
  • Café
  • Child Care Area
  • Retail / Rentals
  • Indoor Theater / Classroom
  • Indoor Playground / Fitness Center
Bo Tree will always be looking for future opportunities that will allow us to improve our triple bottom line. This on-going evolution will be guided by the team’s vision, the marketplace, and our passion for dreaming big and following through. While some ideas are listed below, we remain receptive and flexible enough to forge innovative partnerships and remember to “proceed as the way opens.”

Future Opportunities:
  • Book publishing / Printing Shop
  • Development of non-profit organization (supporting local artists and social entrepreneurs)
  • Partnership with local farm (supplying organic food, incorporating educational services)
  • Charter School
  • Socially Responsible Real Estate Development
